Clement

Darryl Clement

Band Director

Mr Clement is in the eighteenth year as band director of Riverside Academy, having taught from 1987 to 1998 and 2010 to present.  Born in Reserve, LA, Mr. Clement graduated from Riverside Academy in 1982, then went on to receive his Bachelor’s of Music Education in Instrumental Music (K-12) from LSU, where he was a member of the LSU color guard.  Under his direction, the Marching Pride of Riverside has become one of the most successful programs in the area, winning Disney World’s coveted Golden Mickey twice, the $10,000 winner of Popeye’s Love That Music Contest, and 1st place in their classification at the LMBC State Marching Competition.  In addition, under Mr. Clement the Rebel Band consistently receives superior ratings in both marching and concert band assessments.
Mr. Clement is a member of the National Association for Music Education, the Louisiana Music Educators Association, and the Texas Music Educators Association.

Course Information

This year long course is open to all students in grades 7 – 12 who play or desire to play a band instrument and have an interest in marching and concert band literature. Emphasis will be on advanced instrumental technique and ensemble rehearsal skills, marching skills, music literacy, and performance. Advance Band offers band performers the opportunity to play in a marching/concert ensemble. It is a co-curricular class meaning that grades are assigned both in class and at after school rehearsals and performances. A variety of literature will be prepared. After school rehearsals and performances are mandatory and include halftime shows, pep rallies, marching and concert festivals, parades, concerts, and special events.
