CHEERLEADING

The Riverside Academy Varsity Cheerleaders are organized to promote and uphold school spirit throughout our school and community.

The cheerleading program supports all Riverside Academy athletic teams and various events throughout the school year. Each week, the cheerleaders rehearse cheers, chants, stunts, and routines that are used on game days and at pep rallies. They spend time each week designing signs to display at games and pep rallies, and take part in the age-old tradition of creating the signs our championship football team runs through each Friday night as they take the field.

Cheerleaders must be committed to cheering a full calendar year from tryout to tryout, maintain a 2.5 grade point average, attend UCA Cheer Camp & summer workout training, and be able to keep up with a vigorous regimen that includes learning various choreography, stunts, and jumps. While it is not required, tumbling is highly encouraged!

The Riverside Academy Varsity Cheerleaders took home numerous honors while attending this year’s UCA Camp at Louisiana State University. They earned a spirit stick for outstanding team spirit and morale, an overall award for their Game Day Cheer, and superior ratings for their Game Day Routine, Camp Routine, and Game Day Cheer. Hailey Fernandez, Skye Johnson, and Kara Coburn were chosen as All-American Cheerleaders, the highest honor at UCA Camps for superior performance and leadership skills.
